So who is Isolda Deye?

This blog is to document my journey and interests through the SCA.

So who is Isolda Deye?

Isolda Deye is a 16th Century English woman who has a deep interest in healing and medicine, which has earned her the title of Wisewoman with the local Alchemist Guild. Her brother has been off travelling with the Knights Hospitaller for many years and sends her gifts from his travels, including books, manuscripts, herbs and fabrics. She also has a love of many things from Italy and Genoa. She lives with her husband and daughter, along with her moocher of a puppy, Mamoru and a cat, Salem.

I live in the Kingdom of Lochac in the Shire of Bordescros. I have been playing in the SCA since 2014 and have been active mostly in our local group and only in the last couple of years started travelling to events outside of my Shire. My interests in the SCA fall in a range of things. I love to do archery, cooking, glass bead making, medieval medicine/simulation and hanging out with other friends in the SCA.

I am a member of a few of Lochac's Guilds.
Alchemists Guild - Title: Wisewoman, Rank: 5
Brewers Vintners and Imbibers Guild - Rank: Apprentice
Lochac Cook's Guild - unranked

I have helped out and run a couple of kitchens at some large events and I have always enjoyed sharing recipes and information that I have found whilst doing this, taking inspiration from my Peer Mistress Thomasina Coke, who is a wonderful friend and mentor who I have learned a lot from over the years and one of the first people I met in the SCA.

Mundanely, I am a non-practicing Enrolled Nurse who works for one of the universities as the Nursing Technical Officer. My job has me assisting with the set up and pack down of Clinical Classes for the nursing students as well as assisting and participating in Simulations. Working at the university has opened up a wonderful resource for research, particularly in my main area of interest, Medieval Medicine and Simulation History.

My hope is that this will be mainly filled with recipes, medieval medicine and treatments.
